What do you think of this? It’s a YouTube video I just found on monosexuals v bisexuals.
I think has some reasonable points

I was going to watch this but saw it was 25 minutes, which for me and my attention span 🙃 is a bit long for a topic I don’t know anything about. From skimming, apparently monosexual can be considered offensive, but I’m confused as to why. I’d be open to hearing what your thoughts on this video were.

I can understand too, but I think if everyone involved is in the right mindset, it can be fine. This is honestly how my first relationship with a woman went. When we met, she was in a poly relationship, and did not mind that I didn’t have prior experience. Everyone has to start somewhere. Also, sexual stuff isn’t the be-all and end-all of a relationship (or at least it doesn’t have to be) IMO.

I 100% agree it's not the be-all and end-all. I think with dating apps being one of the most common ways of meeting people, it's pure luck finding someone that isn't considering sex. Though I am for sure not into casual sex and it would take me a bit to be comfortable (one of the reasons I don't do well with dating apps).

I feel like the type of people who are offended by this see labels as inherently derogatory, rather than neutrally descriptive. Which says something about their motivation in using labels for others.

The video I posted was long - and very academic it turned out. I wanted to highlight some of the content creator’s other stuff, but this was the one I found on first search.

I believe its main point without getting too caught in theory was some gay people and I guess straight people too don’t like the term monosexual.

I don’t think it’s too widely used (in general) but I don’t find it offensive.
But then I’m flexible with labels and can and do identify with many - bisexual or pansexual, heterosexual, heteroflexible, heteroromantic.
Demisexual towards men
Bisexual or pansexual towards women and I guess someone who’d identify as non-binary but appears mostly feminine.
I’m not sure about masculine people in this case, though I did really admire that British male artist who calls himself a transvestite but is a man - Sir Grayson Perry.

Talented artist, very intelligent and insightful tv presenter and social commentator.
Check out his videos on masculinity or being a transvestite, brexit, art etc etc from YouTube. They’re all from mainstream British tv channels. (ITV or bbc - I’m not sure which - maybe it’s both.

My bad for posting verily bitchie (trans woman I posted above). She’s of note and of high value. But can get very theoretical and very academic and lengthy.
Not all her videos are like that. You may find something else you like.

How about this programme?
I’ve been watching it after finding it on one of my country’s streaming services.
It’s standard reality rubbish but I like those!
Millie is a bisexual who gets paired with Shelby… who calls herself “gay” but tells one of the boys in the house she sleeps with guys and is open to them. Millie and Shelby are both bi I guess…
And there’s another bisexual girl on it too - but I’ve not watched all the episodes!

I guess it’s probably still on the bbc if you want it and you’re in the UK.
Maybe it’s available elsewhere too - if I can watch it and I’m not in the UK.

.Ilye. wrote: Sat Apr 08, 2023 4:42 pm I think one thing that makes it hard to go from ignoring your bisexuality to acknowledging/embracing the part of you you've been neglecting is that it can be interpreted as someone who's bicurious. I know I'm bisexual and would very much date and have a relationship with a woman (though I'm not out to most people), but I have no experience and at least a few women on dating apps have run because of that - worried that I'm just testing it out.
This sums up exactly how I feel…

I want to be attracted to someone’s personality, intelligence and physicality regardless of gender. As soon as I took the binary idea of gender out of the equation it made sense.

I’m finding dating sites hard going as a lot of women shy away from women with little or no experience but I know what I’m attracted to… I’m definitely a sapiophile or sapiosexual and that spans the genders.

For the first time in my life I feel I’m being authentic by saying I want a relationship with a man or a woman or both…

I hope others can relate.

I was attracted to men too so was easier and simpler to pursue men and ignore my attraction to women. I’ve always fantasized about sex with women and always found women’s bodies much more attractive than men’s but for the last 5 or so years I have been think about sex with women more and more. It’s become some thing I feel I need to do, just don’t know how it would come about as I’m married and ages 41
Its approximately 3 years since I questioned my sexuality and started finding girls attractive. Ov still not pursued anything .. I'm married , he dosnt know. My thought process is because Im Married and love him very much I just need to keep everything as it is .. I understand how you feel, I'd love to be with a woman sexually and think about it a lot so I'm not constantly having a bottle of voices ..
The you only love once go out there meet girls and enjoy against the morally voice telling me I'm married .. I made my vows .
so so not cheat ... It's a constant battle lol
